Chief Benjamin Perryman

*Great-great-great grandfather of Monetta Trepp

 

Benjamin's Children: Samuel, Columbus, Moses, James, Lewis, Henry, Lydia, & Mary



Prior to the Indian Removal Act of 1830, Benjamin, along with his 6 sons and 2 daughters came to Indian Territory (Oklahoma prior to statehood). This was during the [voluntary] removal of indigenous people from the east and southeastern United States. He settled with his family and slaves along the Verdigris River in what became the CHOSKA BOTTOMS (current day WAGONER COUNTY).

​The legacy of Monetta Trepp is extensive. She became a Tulsa icon who owned the Perryman Ranch, in Jenks Oklahoma, and transferred ownership to her sons in 2012.

 

She is the daughter of Edith Perryman Johnson, a citizen of the Muscogee Nation and a member of the Beaver Clan of Loca’pokv Talse tribal town. Her great-grandparents are George and Rachel Perryman who are still referred to as Tulsa's first and founding family.

 

She is the great-great-great granddaughter of Chief Benjamin Perryman of the Lower Creeks. Her great-great-great-great-grandfather, Takosv Haco, signed the 1796 treaty between the United States and the Muscogee Nation.

 

Below is a list of noted accomplishments: 

 

*Tulsa Business and Legal News honored her at the 2013 Women of Distinction event.

 

1. Founder:  National Indian Monument and Institute (NIMI) established to preserve the history, art and culture of American Indians.

 

2. Co-founder: Tulsa Indian Art Festival over 25 years ago to promote Native American art and culture. The festival hosts a student artist completion and awards scholarships to its winners. It also holds one of the nation’s most prominent juried native art competitions.

 

3. Board Chairman: American Indian Theatre Company of Oklahoma

 

4. Founder: American Indian Arts Association

Supporter: John Knox Presbyterian, Tulsa Boys Home, and Tulsa City-Country Libraries

 

5. Board Member: Tulsa Historical Society

 

6. Board Member: Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice

 

7. Mayor Appointed  Commissioner: Greater Tulsa Area Indian Affairs Commission

 

8. Leader: Cub Scouts for over ten years

 

9. Founder/Advisory Member:  Tulsa City-County Library’s American Indian Resource Center. It is one of only two centers in public libraries nationwide providing cultural education, resources, activities and services about American Indian heritage. 

 

 

Robert "Rob" Trepp

*Son of Monetta Trepp and co-owner of Perryman Ranch

 

Monetta's sons are the great-grandsons of Mose Perryman. Robert, Wally and Tom Trepp are owners of the historic Perryman Ranch. They honor their rich family legecy by preserving the ranch and its history.
